Remove the Dev Home app with Intune

Today another short blog post about the removal of the Dev Home app, which comes with the new Windows 11 23H2 update.

Dev Home.... What on earth should you use this app in an Enterprise environment? So, I created a remediation script that we can deploy to our Intune managed systems using Microsoft Intune.

The remediation consists, as you probably know, of two PowerShell scripts, namely the detection and the remediation script.

You can find the scripts on my GitHub. Follow the steps below to implement it.

1. Go to the Intune portal
2. Go to Devices -> Remediations
3. Click on + Create script package
4. On the Basics tab, fill in a Name
5. Click on Next
6. On the Settings tab, click on the blue folder button and upload the Detect-DevHome.ps1 script
7. On the same blade, click on the blue folder button and upload the Remove-DevHome.ps1 script
8. Toggle the switch to Yes at Run this script using the logged-on credentials
9. Toggle the switch to Yes at Run script in 64-bit PowerShell
10. Click on Next
11. Click on Next
12. Choose your desired assignment, like all devices or an Entra ID group
13. Choose your desired schedule to run this remediation script
14. Click on Next
15. Click on Create
